Medical Assistant Specialist - Radiology - Full Time

Department: MRI
Office: Watson Clinic Main
Location: Lakeland, FL
Shift Hours/Days:: Full Time - M-F
Degree Required/Education: Medical Assistant Certification
Minimum Years of Experience: >1

Required Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or 1 year of Medical Assistant work experience within the last 2 years. Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment. Current BLS certification or to be completed within first 90 days of employment.

Essential Functions
Assists the Technologist by escorting patients and assisting in their care as needed. Navigates successfully through all computer systems to obtain necessary information. Observes patients to ensure safety and comfort during their stay in the imaging department. Transports supplies or equipment when needed, charts, records, Radiology Imaging and reports for the department. Maintains adequate supplies in exam rooms. Advocates accomplishment of team goals and objectives by promoting a balanced workload and maintains a positive work environment. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Must have strong customer service and verbal/written communication skills
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Knowledge of basic radiology procedures and technical language.
  • Ability to travel throughout and between facilities.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule depending on the department’s needs (days, weekends, holidays, on-call, etc.).
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, reach and grab with arms and hands, manual dexterity.
  • Must have the ability to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy, and comply with HIPAA requirements
