Required Education and Experience: High School Graduate or equivalent. One year data entry/insurance experience. Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT codes is needed.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Must possess basic office skills with the following equipment: Windows based PC experience, Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge, and 10-key calculator. Must have basic knowledge of CPT codes and ICD10 codes. Must be able to plan and prioritize workflow and produce an acceptable volume of work accurately. Needs to be able to reconcile visits with appointments for multiple specialties. Must be able to review patient’s invoices and move dollars when they need to be.
Essential Functions
Works the GE fatal report every day correcting encounters so that the charges are correct and can be billed.
Goes to LSDC and LRH in the morning (M-F). Multiple floors in LRH for pickups. Goes to LRH in the afternoon and brings back anesthesia tickets and works the “check-in” process and distributes accordingly.
Enters charges into billing system from batches prepared by medical coders. Enters charges with speed and accuracy.
Works missing charge ticket report to include dispersing report to appropriate coder, attaching correct visit numbers to Ultrasounds in GE, and identifying missing Videostrobe codes and keying charges in GE.
Reconciles monthly dialysis charges using document summaries/charge summaries from KFC and DaVita.
Runs Anesthesia Labels, Derm ticket processing, Keys all Home Health Certificates, and Reconciles surgery schedules and archives them.
Performs other special projects that the medical coding department receives from outside areas.
