Required Education and Experience: High School graduate or GED. Formal training as a Medical Assistant, OR/GI Tech or Nursing Assistant required. One (1) year of previous experience in related medical or surgical facility required. Current CPR certification,

Education and Experience: OJT in gastroenterology with a minimum of two (2) year experience preferred. Gastrointestinal Assistant certification preferred.

Essential Functions

Under the supervision and direction of the GI Manager and the professional nurse, provides assistance to the Endoscopy Unit staff by cleaning, disinfecting and maintaining endoscopic instruments and equipment. Provides assistance to the physicians and patients intra-procedurally in accordance with the established policies and procedures for the surgery center.
