Staff Accountant Fixed Assets - Full Time

Degree Required/Education: A.A.
Minimum Years of Experience: 7

Required Education and Experience: Associate degree in Business Administration, Accounting focus preferred. Minimum of 7 years Accounting experience, Fixed Asset/Fund Accounting preferred.

Preferred Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting focus preferred.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Computer literate. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word and Sage Fixed Assets software (preferred). Fixed Asset and General Ledger software experience required (Allscripts Fiscal Management preferred).

Essential Functions

Manages the Watson Clinic (Clinic) fixed asset records, updates Sage Fixed Assets software with additions and disposals each month, and reconciles construction-in-progress and deposit general ledger accounts.

Prepares the monthly depreciation expense journal entry and records the entry in the Clinic’s general ledger.

Collaborates with the Chief Financial Officer and the clinical directors to prepare the annual capital budget and issues capital budget numbers to track projects once approved by Administration.

Updates the capital budget schedule as monthly expenditures occur, in order to determine budget-to-actual variances.

Analyzes all new Clinic capital and operating equipment leases and adds the new financing to the lease accounting spreadsheet. Calculates the monthly lease accounting journal entry and posts the entry to the general ledger.

Processes the monthly prepaid maintenance journal entry and books the entry to the Clinic’s general ledger.

Maintains the Clinic’s miscellaneous income schedule and posts the EFT and manual check journal entries to the general ledger.

Oversees physician hospital call coverage invoices and records payments to a shared worksheet with Clinic Administration.

Organizes patient refunds for Accounts Payable processing.

Records all financial transactions – such as purchases, expenses, revenue, invoices, and payments – in the general ledgers for the Watson Clinic Center for Research (CFR), Watson Clinic Foundation (Foundation), and Center for Cancer Center and Research (CCCR).

Prepares Florida annual reports for the Clinic, CFR, CCCR, and Foundation.

Prepares all fixed assets schedules for the Clinic’s annual financial statement audit.

Files annual Polk County Tangible Personal Property tax returns and extensions for all Clinic locations.

Prepares US Census Bureau Industry Statistics annual reports.

Performs financial and/or analytical tasks and participates in special projects, as requested by the Controller or Chief Financial Officer.
