Laboratory Supervisor- Regional - Full Time

Office: Watson Clinic Main
Location: Lakeland, FL
Shift Hours/Days:: Full Time - M-F
Degree Required/Education: State License
Minimum Years of Experience: 6

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology or related science degree along with successful completion of an approved formal training program in Medical Technology.

Preferred Education and Experience: A minimum of 6 years experience as a Medical Technologist plus previous experience as a general supervisor in a clinical laboratory setting.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Active State of Florida Supervisor’s license in Hematology, Chemistry, Serology, Microbiology, and Molecular Pathology. Complete knowledge of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and Proficiency testing programs. Complete understanding of compliance with all regulatory agencies along with the applicable State and Federal laws and regulations governing the practice of the Laboratory. CPR certification to be completed within 3 months of employment.

Summary/Objective: Regional Clinical Laboratory Supervisors plan, manage and supervise the activities of Medical Laboratory Technologist/Technicians and Laboratory Assistants at multiple locations. In addition to performing the same essential job functions as the Technologist/Technician, Supervisors also make schedules, purchase supplies, maintain equipment inventory, and evaluate staff job performance.

  • Assures quality control and quality assurance programs meet requirements set forth by all regulatory agencies and testing methodologies are comparable to those performed at Main Clinic
  • Performs and supervises all routine and complex tests as ordered by the clinician
  • Develops and updates department policy and procedure manuals in accordance with those of the Main Clinic
  • Establishes and reviews that a scheduled preventive maintenance program is performed and documented on all equipment and testing systems
  • Assures that Proficiency Testing surveys are performed and reported accurately and timely. Provides appropriate documentation of corrective action for results outside of acceptable limits
  • Provides technical support and information to other laboratory staff members and clinicians
  • Resolve problems and issues as they arise and keeps Laboratory Manager and Director of Laboratory Services informed of such situations
